A problem with a case record

If a case record in Lawki looks wrong, or you think it should not be public, email us the link to the case and tell us what is wrong. We will look into it and reply.

Lawki shows records as CourtListener has them and cannot change them. To correct or remove a record at its source, contact CourtListener or the court.

Common questions

  • Is Lawki free?

The beta is free, and Lawki has no paid plans today.

Some court documents cost money on PACER, the federal courts’ own system. Lawki shows an estimated price and a link, and PACER charges you directly. Lawki does not sell documents.

  • Can Lawki give me legal advice?

No. Lawki is not a law firm and cannot advise you. For help with your situation, contact a licensed lawyer or a legal aid organization.

  • Can I search for a person?

No. Lawki is built around court cases. You can search by case name, case number, court or date.

  • Why is a case or document missing?

Lawki shows what CourtListener has. Some cases and documents are not there yet, some documents are only on PACER, and sealed records are not public.

  • Does Lawki use AI?

Lawki is testing two optional AI features: smart search, which turns a plain-English question into a search you can check and change, and a short plain-language summary of a case that quotes the documents it is based on. Both are labeled as AI, and the app asks for your permission before anything is sent to Anthropic, the AI provider. Some cases never get a summary: sealed and juvenile cases, cases with a “Doe” party, and criminal cases against individuals. AI can make mistakes, so check the quoted documents.

This website never shows AI summaries.
